There are 350 universities in Germany with almost 105 of those are offering masters courses in English. This gives students a variety of sub subjects and courses to choose from according to their interests.

There are two types of universities in Germany

1. Technical Universities :

Education here is research based, master program lasts for 2 years and is a  total of 120 credit points.

2. Fach Hochschule:

Education here is practical based, master program lasts for 1.5 years and is of total 90 credit points.




There are two intakes for Germany: - summer and winter

  • Summer intake(April): The application procedure normally starts in mid-October and the deadlines are open till mid-January.

  • Winter intake(October): The application procedure normally starts in mid-February and the deadlines are open till mid-July. Some universities start their application early and have deadline in March hence the process has to start as early as possible.

Application to universities

The application process  for most of the universities in Germany is Online so the cost of application for most of universities is none. For some universities the application is via uni assist.

Uni Assist

Uni Assit is a private body which handles applications and they charge € 75  for first University and €  15 for subsequent universities.


  1. IELTS/TOEFL is the basic requirement for applications to English taught courses at German Universities.

  2. No GRE required, some universities might ask for SAT for applications to Bachelors course.

  3. Other academic requirements vary from University to University. Student  above 65% have a good chance of getting an admission.

  4. German language is NOT required to apply to universities in Germany. Still a basic knowledge of German language is recommended before flying to Germany (Atleast till A1).

  • 2 sealed LORs from professor, if the student has work ex then we can provide an additional LOR recommended by the boss or head employee. Some universities have  their own LOR format which we can get from their respective website.

  • Passport Copy

  • Work Experience Letter (If available)

  • Transcripts Compulsory.


  • 10th and 12th or diploma Certificate is required.

  • CV

  • A1 certificate is  recommended. (from Goe Institut / The Max Muller Bhavan)

    • If a student wishes to do his/her MS in the German language, then a C1 level of German language Certificate is mandatory.
